LIVING IN CHERKASY, UKRAINE

As of today we have been living in Cherkasy for a month, so what has it been like? Well the month has flown by, which has to be a good sign! We have a comfortable 2 bedroom apartment that is only a few minutes walk to the main street where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. Most importantly, it...

WE HAVE ARRIVED IN UKRAINE!

After our brief stopover in Doha we arrived in Kiev, Ukraine. We had a few days in Kiev, spending the time wandering around the neighbourhood, visiting cathedrals and doing some food shopping.  Eating out is so cheap however that cooking was never going to happen! We have eaten out for dinner every night and found cheap snack type places for...

A STOPOVER IN DOHA, QATAR

We flew to Ukraine with Qatar Airways who use Doha, Qatar as their hub. VISIT TO THE FACTORY

It was great to meet Dmitriy and the team and to take a look at their factories and some of the builds that are underway at the moment. It is very clear that they pay attention to the details and deliver a quality product....

AND SO THE PROCESS BEGINS

Around October 2017 the process began to design Matilda and there have been many, many Skype calls with Dmitriy from Krug Expedition since then! The initial discussions were primarily around high level costs and the legalities of owning and registering a truck as Australians (see this post for details). Once both of these things seemed viable the design process started....

IN THE BEGINNING

We originally had not planned to retire and start our dream for another couple of years. For something to do Wayne would quite often search for expedition trucks for sale and send them to Elizabeth. Most of them were not even close to what we wanted, being very old, or too quirky or primitive for the way we wanted to travel...
