REGISTERING & OWNING A TRUCK

We had never really thought about how one could own and register a vehicle in a country that they do not reside in.  This was going to be a major hurdle for us to overcome if we wanted to build a truck in Ukraine, or anywhere other then Australia I would think. After our own investigations that pretty much led nowhere, Dmitriy and the team from Krug devised and confirmed the solution for us.

The plan was to create a company in the Ukraine that we own, appoint a Ukrainian director and register the truck using the company’s name and address. The company then gives us permission to drive the truck, problem solved. Simple right!? It was actually quite easy once we got our head around the process and determined there was no risk involved. Krug went above and beyond and managed all the paperwork and details for us which was greatly appreciated.

World Roamers LLC was born! 

So we are now the proud owners of a Ukrainian company! There are actually some great advantages to registering our truck in the Ukraine. The best one is that we only have to register the truck once, no ongoing yearly registration expenses – woohoo! Naturally we do though have to pay green card insurance each year. Another benefit for world travelers such as ourselves, is that the Ukraine does not have quite as strict emissions standards. This meant we could get a Euro V truck, however it does not need Ad Blue. Not only a cost saving, but a lot less hassle in the lesser developed countries where it no doubt would be difficult to find. The full details of our truck can be found here if you are interested.
